Start with the engine data plate
Photograph the complete plate before cleaning, removing, or disassembling the unit. Record the engine manufacturer, model, serial, horsepower rating, and emissions-family information.
Use the VIN as supporting information
The VIN helps identify the truck build, but trucks can be repowered or modified. Compare the VIN information with the installed engine label.
Photograph connections and accessories
Turbo arrangement, sensors, harness connections, mounts, front accessories, and aftertreatment generation may affect the review.
Identification guidance improves a request but does not guarantee fitment. A specific used unit must be reviewed against the truck and installed component.
