Used Truck Engines LLC Limited Warranty

Coverage terms for eligible used truck engines and transmissions sold by Used Truck Engines LLC through TruckEngines.us.

VIN & serial reviewHuman parts supportNationwide coordination
Important: order-specific terms control

This limited warranty applies only when warranty coverage is shown on the invoice for the purchased component. The invoice and accepted written order terms control if they state a different duration, mileage limit, covered item, fee, or claim requirement.

Eligibility and warranty period

This limited warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is not transferable to another purchaser, vehicle, engine, or transmission. Coverage is available only for an eligible used component identified on a paid Used Truck Engines LLC invoice.

  • Gasoline engines: 36 months from the purchase date or 30,000 miles from the documented odometer reading at installation, whichever occurs first.
  • Diesel and truck engines: 36 months from the purchase date or 36,000 miles from the documented odometer reading at installation, whichever occurs first.
  • Transmissions: 36 months from the purchase date or 30,000 miles from the documented odometer reading at installation, whichever occurs first.

The component must be installed and the warranty must be activated within 10 business days after delivery. Coverage is not active until all amounts due and any required warranty or commercial-use surcharge have been paid. Ordinary on-road commercial use is covered only when commercial-use coverage is expressly shown on the invoice. Claims are limited to failures occurring within the United States.

Covered engine components

For this warranty, an engine means the used basic engine assembly supplied by Used Truck Engines LLC: the block, cylinder head or heads, and covered internal components. The following internal components are covered against a qualifying mechanical breakdown:

  • Pistons and piston pins
  • Crankshaft and main bearings
  • Connecting rods and rod bearings
  • Camshaft and camshaft bearings
  • Intake and exhaust valves and valve springs
  • Oil pump, push rods, rocker arms, hydraulic lifters, and rocker-arm shafts

The engine block and cylinder heads are covered only when damaged by the failure of a covered internal component. Bolt-on parts and accessories left on the engine for convenience—including sensors, switches, wiring, electronics, belts, hoses, filters, manifolds, water pumps, brackets, flywheels, valve covers, injectors, and high-pressure fuel or oil-system components—are not covered unless the invoice expressly states otherwise. Seals and gaskets are covered only when replacement is required as part of an authorized repair to a covered component; leaks by themselves are not covered.

Covered transmission components

For an eligible automatic or manual transmission, covered internal components include the torque converter, oil pump, governor, drums, planetary assemblies, sun gear and shell, sprags, shafts, bearings, shift rails, forks, and synchronizers.

External switches, sensors, wiring, electronic controls, clutches, leaking seals or gaskets, and other components not specifically listed above are not covered. Damage to a covered component caused by a non-covered component is also excluded.

Installation and activation requirements

The engine or transmission must be installed by an ASE-certified professional repair facility. Do-it-yourself installation is not covered. These requirements apply to the extent permitted by applicable law and are used to document proper installation and maintenance.

Engine installation

  • Install a new thermostat.
  • Install a new timing belt when applicable.
  • Replace required seals and gaskets, including the rear main seal.
  • Confirm that the oil-pressure and temperature warning systems or gauges, speedometer, odometer, cooling system, and lubrication system operate correctly.

Transmission installation

  • Replace the transmission cooler.
  • Replace the front and rear seals and gaskets.
  • Flush the transmission cooler lines.
  • Complete any required relearn, reset, programming, flashing, or electronic valve-body procedure.

Within 10 business days after delivery, email info@truckengines.us with the invoice number, a dated installation receipt, and a clear odometer photo. Include any additional activation information requested in the written order terms. False or altered activation information voids coverage.

Maintenance and records

For an engine, change the oil and filter during the first 1,000 miles after installation, then follow the vehicle or engine manufacturer's maintenance schedule. Use the correct fluids, filters, lubricants, and coolant for the application. Transmission service must follow the applicable manufacturer schedule and specifications.

Required maintenance must be performed by a commercial service facility. Keep electronically generated records issued on the service date and in the purchaser's name. Each record should show the facility, date, mileage, VIN, vehicle year/make/model, work performed, and proof of payment. Handwritten or self-maintenance records are not accepted as proof of required maintenance.

What is not covered

This warranty does not cover a failure, condition, cost, or damage resulting from:

  • Improper installation, diagnosis, repair, programming, application, or use of an incompatible component.
  • Overheating, freezing, lack of lubrication or cooling, contaminated fluids, improper fluid levels, or a missing, altered, or melted heat tab.
  • Accident, collision, fire, flood, theft, vandalism, acts of God, road conditions, abuse, negligence, racing, competition, off-highway or industrial use, improper towing, overloading, or use not approved by the vehicle manufacturer.
  • Modifications or accessories that do not conform to the original manufacturer's specifications.
  • Normal or excessive wear, gradual loss of performance, excessive oil consumption, leaks, cosmetic condition, or a component that is worn, burned, scored, or recommended for replacement but is not broken or inoperable.
  • A non-covered component, pre-existing condition, factory recall, manufacturer warranty, repairer guarantee, other warranty, service contract, insurance policy, or other available recovery.
  • Operation after a problem or suspected failure is discovered, or any repair, removal, teardown, disposal, or disassembly performed without prior written authorization.
  • Fraud, material misrepresentation, a non-functioning odometer, or a claim outside the United States.

Mileage stated for a used component is an estimate based on available information and is not guaranteed. The appearance of a used component is not warranted.

How to make a claim

  1. Stop operating the vehicle immediately when a possible covered failure is discovered.
  2. Contact Used Truck Engines LLC before repairing, removing, opening, returning, or disposing of the component. Email info@truckengines.us or call 1-800-518-9776.
  3. Submit the requested documents within five business days after the failure occurs. Required documents may include the original invoice, activation proof, installation and maintenance receipts, odometer photo, an ASE-certified facility diagnostic report, a detailed work order, photographs, and the mechanic's certification and contact information.
  4. Preserve the complete component. It must remain assembled, with all supplied parts present, and available for inspection. The purchaser is responsible for authorized diagnostic and teardown costs.
  5. Follow written return or pickup instructions. If a replacement is authorized, the claimed component must be available for pickup within seven working days after notice unless Used Truck Engines LLC agrees otherwise in writing. Unauthorized or freight-collect returns may be refused.

Submission of a claim does not establish coverage. Used Truck Engines LLC may inspect the component and supporting records before making a coverage decision.

Available remedy and limits of liability

For an approved claim, Used Truck Engines LLC will choose one of the following remedies: repair the covered component, provide one used replacement assembly of like kind and quality when available, or refund an amount up to the purchase price or then-current replacement value of the covered component. Replacement may be provided only once. A repair or replacement does not restart or extend the warranty; the original purchase date, installation mileage, and coverage limits continue to apply.

This is a parts-only limited warranty. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Used Truck Engines LLC does not pay labor, installation, removal, diagnosis, teardown, fluids, filters, coolant, freight, towing, storage, telephone charges, rental or substitute transportation, downtime, lost income or profits, damage to other components, or incidental, special, or consequential damages.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations or exclusions, so those provisions apply only to the extent permitted by applicable law. This warranty does not reduce any rights that cannot lawfully be waived.

Delivery, returns, and order charges

  • Inspect freight before signing the delivery receipt. Note visible damage on the receipt and keep photographs and carrier records.
  • Report shipping damage to Used Truck Engines LLC and the freight carrier within 48 hours after delivery. Report an incorrect component within 72 hours after delivery.
  • Do not return any component without written authorization. Any authorized return must remain complete and assembled in the condition received.
  • A non-defective return, refused shipment, cancellation, misordered part, or misdiagnosed part may be subject to a 35% handling and restocking charge plus original and return freight. Shipping charges are non-refundable.
  • Undisclosed residential, liftgate, limited-access, redelivery, storage, or other carrier services may be charged to the purchaser, including charges up to $150 for an undisclosed residential or liftgate requirement.
  • Quoted delivery times, including a typical 7–14 working-day estimate, are estimates and are not guaranteed.
  • Deposits and part-hold payments are non-refundable. A hold for a component priced above $5,000 may require a non-refundable $1,000 deposit and is limited to 10 days unless the written order states otherwise.
  • If a core charge applies, the core must be complete, assembled, free of disqualifying cracks or holes, and returned within 30 days to qualify for credit.

The separate Returns & Refund Policy, shipping policy, invoice, and written order terms also apply. If those documents conflict, the signed or accepted order-specific terms control to the extent allowed by law.
